The Nelson Mass Performance
We took a reduced orchestra to Aylesbury last Saturday to take part in a spectacular fundraising event at the Methodist Church. The concert was in aid of Cancer Research and raised over £2500. The concert was predominantly choral with our orchestra accompanying the high quality choir performance of Haydn's Nelson Mass. For several orchestra members who had studied this work at length either at college or university, this was a dream come true! There was some stunning singing and it was a rare treat for all to hear a male alto take on the tricky solo sections.
The orchestra were very well looked after, lunch was provided and it was excellent. None of your soggy sandwiches and not a sausage on a stick in sight! Deli salads, pate, cheeses, continental meats followed by a marvellous fruit selection, coffee and after dinner mints! It really was a very pleasant day for all involved.
Many thanks to the Trinity Camerata legend that is John for inviting us to be part of such a worthwhile event and to the people who made us feel so welcome. We hope to be invited back again soon!! (especially if the food is that good!!)
