There were many last-minute adjustments to the string line up after rather a few took ill last minute but we sorted it in the end. As per usual Sam explained the story behind everything we played which was well received by the orchestra and made it much easier to interpret.
The overture lulled most into a false sense of security with it's lovely melodies and then came the Berwald. this symphony challenged all sections and the brass got to show off their talents which was rather nice. The piece was awkward at times but brilliantly effective once we got to grips with the last movement. I challenging but great experience for all; thank you Sam for leading us through this piece!!
We will be going on a Bear Hunt imminently and would urge all members and audience members a like to take time out to spread the word about our Family Concert in conjunction with Bicester Town Council. With their grant we have been able to spend much more on suitable repertoire and hope to apply next year. Music should be accessible to all regardless of age, status and creed.
Do you know someone interested in learning an orchestral instrument through school? Do you want to give your child the greatest insight into the workings/wall of sound that is unique to an orchestral setting? Please give your children a chance to experience something they have never experienced and pass on the word. Family Concert November 16th at 3:45pm at St Edburgs Church.
WE ARE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT so bring your bear!!!!
